Day 16 - Bricklayer's Ghost by snaggy

Day 16 - Bricklayer's Ghost

My Dad was a bricklayer, God rest his soul, and he always said that robins were bricklayer's ghosts, as winter's not a good time for bricklayers. Try laying bricks with gloves on!
Anyway, things were looking bad today when this particular "ghost" turned up to help - he was very inquisitive and allowed me a few shots - however, as soon as I went for the longer lens - nowhere to be seen! Thanks anyway!
What a wonderful picture!!!! Well done

DOF is great, with the branch leading to the robin and the background speckled with pricks of light.

Nice one Kev. As stated above... This is great, I even like the description! Taken on the sigma?

@dave_rv Thanks Dave, the little chap just sat up nicely for me. It's just a shame the sky didn't have a bit more blue in it - the river would've looked that bit more cheerier.

@tomo87 No, it wasn't, it was the trusty 15-85. Wasn't even thinking about wildlife - I was hoping the sun would turn up and I'd get Maud Heath's Causeway in the frost. No sun, no frost! Fortunately the also trusty 7D was on Spot AF (which I tend to use a lot, perhaps too much) and the shot came out much better than expected if I'm honest.

@snaggy a bit of bokeh out of ol' trusty 15-85...nice... Which one is spot af... Is that where you pick the point? That's the one I use, what I'm most comfortable with being similar to the old 550d.

Great shot. He looks like he's stretching and bending to see something better.

@nebzphoto Thanks Nancy - he'd just landed - got a few more before he skipped off to the river bank, but this was the first and best.
