Had a two-day meeting in this hotel in Russell Square in London - unfortunately didn't stop here - Premier Inn for me!
The Hotel Russell was built at the end of the 19th century and has a stunning facade and interior. It was designed by Charles Doll, whose name led to term "getting dolled up" and also designed the restaurant on RMS Titanic. The restaurant in Hotel Russell (which I have to say is very nice!) is apparently a copy of that on the Titanic.
Hopefully, this shot gives a bit of a taste of the Victorian splendour of this Hotel. Shot handheld.
@ch1ppy_m1nton Thanks Chippy - it's coming along thanks to 365 and the constant daily practice. Still making mistakes though. On this shot, hand-held in low light at 0.4 seconds, it was the Image Stabilisation and the 7fps that helped I think - jammed the elbow in and fired off three or four shots in the hope one is sharp - normally one is.
A very posh placed indeed... and how interesting to read about Doll... I do like to find out where sayings coming from, so thanks for that titbit of information! :)
@amandal Hi Amanda, no, I'd already caused enough consternation in this posh hotel by getting a large camera out - I just pushed myself hard back against the rear wall and anchored my arms in as it ended up being quite a slow shutter speed.
