Thanks for all the kind comments and favs on yesterday's "Tale of Two MG TCs" - they were all very much appreciated (and unexpected).
I am enjoying participating in the sooc challenge started by @vignouse and you can read all about it here: http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/23475/back-to-basics-who-s-up-for-a-big-challenge-in-september It's never too late to join in the fun and try this challenge yourself - nothing I have tried over the many decades I've been involved with photography has helped me more to become a better photographer than using a standard prime lens and trying to get it right in camera.
Today's image is of an unrestored survivor BSA Lightning twin cylinder motorcycle displayed at the British car show. Most of you know I love classic cars, but I also love classic motorcycles. And the BSA, with its wonderful chrome tank, 650cc air cooled twin engine and wire wheels, represents the way I think a motorcycle should look. I also like the patina of age on this motorbike.
Wow. Danny this is so cool and I'd love to see it al. I got interested in shooting bikes in Colorado Springs last year when I struck up a conversation with a guy who had a custom built one that was just incredible. Love the selfie - and I've tried without succeeding to do something like this without getting me.
Ah, Danny, this image transported me back to the days of my misbegotten youth in a trice! It's really special when you find a vintage car or bike in 'heritage' condition as this one is, and you've captured it beautifully.
@aglennc It's all explained in the link that Danny has posted... but NF stands for 'Nifty-Fifty' the nickname often given to a prime lens with an actual (or effective) focal length of 50mm. This was the focal length commonly supplied with 35mm film cameras back in the day.
@vignouse Right..... and thanks for the NF explanation...... I didn't see the original narrative and idea, and it has had me baffled. I might just try it. Sounds interesting.
