I bought myself some post-anniversary flowers today. Normally I'd shun peonies for being ant magnets but as I'm keeping them indoors I think I'll be safe. When I was a kid my mom had planted some along the driveway of my childhood home so getting out of the car during certain months was an adventure for those of us with a perfectly rational fear of ants. Eek!
I am so glad you treated yourself to peonies. They are the most decadent flower in my mind with their color, number of petals and they way they just spill open.
@romans_mama Go for it! I'm sure you've done something to deserve the treat.
@jgoldrup I wish I could tell you exactly how to replicate it but the truth is I ran a Photoshop action on it and when I didn't like the results of that (it was too dark) I fiddled around with hiding and adjusting the layers it had created until I wound up with this. I did add an extra gradient fill layer at the end to really highlight those flowers in the foreground. I used the "Adrenaline" action from this set but made a bunch of changes after: http://elestrial.deviantart.com/art/Ghost-Stories-Photoshop-Action-192944578
Wow, you used a ghost story on this?! Not even recognizable as such! I admit I don't muck around with the different layers when I use them though...no idea what is possible there. I'll give it a go when I next use those actions.
@brumbe I made sure to buy a few that haven't opened yet so I can enjoy them for days to come. They are indeed lovely.
