After I had spent a couple of hours indoors on-line, we seized the opportunity to travel a short distance from our home to view a local ford well known to us. It had been very cold overnight (c -7C), but in this sheltered spot in the sun just after noon, it did not seem too cold.
Despite recent heavy rain, and flooding on major rivers in our area, the water level did not seem to be abnormally high.
