This Sparrow rules to roost in my garden and her main aim in life is to stop the Goldfinches feeding on the sunflower harts.
you caught a great deal of action here. Non stop entertainment in your garden!

What a moment-of-action capture! I must be doing something wrong -- I have purchased and put out seven feeders of different types and -- no birds. Sigh.

@jyokota Try placing them near cover so the birds can escape when threatened.

@stevejacob -- I have one attached to my kitchen window, I have two under the maple tree (rather hidden), one under the river birch (somewhat open) and three completely open. I hesitated to put them under trees too much because I have this very friendly squirrel who would jump all over the feeders. Must learn more how to attract birds. I'm even feeding my squirrel in a completely different area of the yard. I have a question -- when the bird seeds get wet from rain, do birds still eat them?

@jyokota I don't know where you live but the birds in this part of the world like the sunflower hearts and the suet balls most

@stevejacob I live in a Chicago suburb and I bought black sunflower seeds with some kind of pepper so Oliver doesn't eat them all up. And I bought some suet squares and I put out grape jelly and oranges.

@jyokota I'm not sure why the birds don't come then. I have heard sometimes the peppers put them off but I haven't used it myself.
