Someone at our campground told us about a waterfall that we should check out. We drove to the parking area and then started following the trail. All of a sudden the nice trail turned very skinny and right along the side of the mountain - a cliff hanger! No way was I going to be able to do that as I can't handle heights at all. I turned back and sent my husband and dog on to the waterfall. I should have given him the camera but it is sort of glued to me! There were a couple of benches at this lookout where I waited for them. I didn't feel very deprived because it was such a beautiful place to wait!
Oh, wow! What a beautiful site and oh, that color. I'm with you. I don't like or do heights....especially if the trail is right on a drop off...... Forget it.
I would've done the same thing. I still remember when we drove from Mazatlán to Durango, Mexico. we rented a small car because Hans wanted to drive over the Devel's Backbone, which is a two lane highway connecting two mountain ranges over one ridge with both sides going down thousands of feet. you probably know about the one I'm talking about. I was so glad when we had to turn back before we reached it. we didn't know there were no gas stations along the whole stretch.
Love the view from your resting place. fav.
@bruni Bruni, how cool is that? We took that same trip from Mazatlan to Durango back about 1999 or so. It was quite a drive! I didn't have my fear of height problem quite so bad back then. It just keeps getting worse. Our problem with that drive were the logging trucks! I would love to visit Durango again. We only stayed one night. Thank you for the FAV!!
I know how you feel about those thin trails- had to really push myself through one in Israel. After we finally got off the trail, I turned to my teacher and said, "I will NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!" They teased me about that forever, but I was upset that no one told us we'd have to walk on a ledge no wider than our feet! Thankfully they had grips along the rock face- but it was scary!! You were able to capture a beautiful shot while you waited!
Love the view from your resting place. fav.
