This seagull seemed to enjoy being photographed. One bonus of lockdown is less people and traffic about so birds and animals seem less afraid of us humans
That’s very true. Every black cloud has a silver lining.
Our lock downs did clear the streets of traffic, and all sorts of wild life enjoyed the lack of disturbance.
Hi Sue, I am your get pushed partner again this week.
As my tradition I will give you several options.
1. This first option is a little difficult (I will get you instruction links later today when I’m done working.) try your hand at a water crown
2. A photo using a candle in the shot, trick is to not have the candle get over exposed or blown out. You could use different paintings with candles for inspiration if you want. For composition it may be good to not have the candle the only thing in the photo but that is up to you.
3. Of value, could be an item, or concept shot of someone or something you value, or the world values. Up to you how you want to interpret this.
I don’t know if you have done water crowns before, but I will give a few tips that worked for me. You need a narrow shutter speed f10 -f16. The shutter sped should be fast to freeze the splash you need good lighting or a flash. What I used a flat surface, I used a plastic bag and tied it high above the plate, the higher it was the stronger splash. I secured the camera on tripod or on the ground which I laid down next to. the camera. I poked a small hole in the bag and watched where the drops land and place something in that spot. I focused the camera on that spot and locked the focus (single focus). Then I removed the focus point object and start shooting trying to time the splash. Lots and lots of tries.
@myhrhelper Thank you so much Kathy for the thought and time you put into providing challenges and support for them. I will definitely try this. The neighbours wont be surprised so see me lying on the ground next to my camera!!
