Some of you mentioned yesterday about how shy the wild turkeys seem to be. Yes, I'd certainly agree. As soon as this flock realized I was within sight, they took off. Here's the leucistic one on the run.
This was taken from quite a distance, beyond the range of my little P90, 24x zoom. I'm looking at new cameras but the problem is, the ones I'd like are too heavy for my arthritic wrists. I'm thinking maybe the P510, with its 42x zoom ....
@busylady Thanks Judith! Yes, our winter scenes appear to be in b&w, especially to those not accustomed to them. I had no idea they looked like this until 365. One of the many things I've learned here ... lol
I'm glad you're showing a close-up of this turkey. He is quite unusual. The wild turkeys around here are not as wild as they were years ago. I used to never see them and now it isn't unusual to see a huge flock on a street or yard.
Awesome close up of this unusual turkey! It's so much prettier than the regular colored ones. Have you looked into the hybrid camera? Trina Holub has one and loves it. It is smaller like a p&s, but has all the features of a camera with detachable lenses.
I think that you caught him perfectly, Anne. Easy to see his beauty here . . amazing feather pattern. I know what you mean about the heavy cameras . . my 70- 300mm lens, is very hard to hold. And am too lazy to carry the tripod 99% of the time. Difficult decision.
great capture, I'm sure you didn't have very long too get setup! I just took a look at the Nikon P510 online. That seems like a pretty awesome camera - 42 zoom is amazing! I love my camera but do find it heavy and not so portable.
Anne, that's such a great shot. We have turkeys around my house but they aren't too shy. Most likely because I feed them, and not many animals are afraid of me.
What a great catch!
Lovely to see the detail in the feathers
good luck with looking for a new camera:)
