Here's another [and last!] view of the girls' half of the room in the 1800's school house in Upper Canada Village. The stove is in the centre of the room and the teacher is barely visible behind the stove pipe. The row of boys is to the left out of view. It's a shorter row and has tourists sitting on the benches along with the students so the pic is not as interesting. Such a small room/building and not enough room to get the pics I would have liked!
We saw lots of cool things that day and I had a great time. Near the end of our visit our 4 year old granddaughter said "Grams, did you used to live here?"
ba haaa! i love your granddaughter's comment! this is such a lovely photo... do they actually run thru lessons there? i assume it's all for show? and gosh, those poor girls must be awfully hot in those dresses!
@northy just for show, i can't imagine the heat on a normal summer day! we were there on a day with no humidity and it was quite comfortable. the bakery was really hot though!
i'd like to have seen this. i think that's how well behaved i was when i was in school. not! hahaha! i've been made to stand in a corner quite a few times for talking. don't you just love grandchildren? they say the darndest things! wonderful shot, anne.
