Still Visiting by sunnygreenwood

Still Visiting

The females are still visiting the feeder near where I often sit --- and I'm still curious about why the males stick to the feeders on the other side of the house. This one's sitting in a lilac tree waiting to dive bomb her "competition".

Many thanks for dropping by.
ah, the subject that continues to elude me, the hummer bummer! wonderful shot, anne.

So beautiful! I've read that male hummers are very territorial - maybe they're afraid of leaving that feeder in case another male moves into "their turf"?

Great shot...love the long beaks.

Beautiful capture. Kinda reminds you of the 'boys and girls' entrances at school way back when! I guess they will be leaving soon? We are heading to Ontario in September for a couple of weeks, wonder if I'll get to see any.

The few times I've seen hummingbirds they are constantly moving and don't sit still a second. I think you must put tranquilizers in your humming bird feeder water ---- jk, of course ;-) Love this shot and a fav.

@cimes1 thanks carole! i think it helps that there is a tree with not many leaves close by so that we can see them.
