I think this Hibiscus is "Fireball", or maybe the tag in the pot was misplaced! Fireball seems to be redder in some of the pics I've seen on the internet. Regardless, it has cool details.

Do you know what kind of flower this is? I have seen them a few times this summer and no one seems to know. They are so big and beautiful...just like yours by the way.
@batavia thanks april! it's an hibiscus. i think the variety might be "fireball" but according to the internet, "fireball" is redder so maybe the tag in the pot was wrong. i'd love to have it in my garden but we only have limited sun, with so many trees around us, so i managed to leave this one at the garden centre.
anne, is this the kind that's as big as one's face? there's a lot of that in the park near the market and i can't get over how big they are, it's like tinker bell might be living underneath it! i like the colour of this, there are also some that are fiery red and there are whites.
