This river view with the inuksuks and Canada geese is just a couple of km from the parliament buildings in the centre of Ottawa, Canada's capital city. With two rivers converging into one, there are numerous views similar to this within the city limits.
@lyno thank lyn! yes, cairns are stacks of stones and inuksuks are a specific Canadian version of stones stacked to resemble the form of a person. They're becoming more and more a national symbol of Canada, representing strength, fortitude, determination and friendship. They played a big role in the Olympic promotions when the winter Olympics were held in Vancouver.
I first saw inuksuks when I went to my brother’s cabin in Wawa. They were everywhere up the coast of Lake Superior. I never knew they had a name until I read this so now I can go research the history behind them! Beautiful shot! I know Canada is more than lumberjacks and wilderness, but boy you’ve got some gorgeous places worth bragging about.
