Showing the Way

Inuksuks are a growing part of Canadian culture and viewers here at 365 seemed to be interested in them in yesterday's shot, so I thought I'd post another pic of one.

I've shown quite a few of these stone people over the past 500+ shots posted here. Here's one of the links explaining some of the history: http://365project.org/sunnygreenwood/365/2011-09-20

In a nut shell, they're figures originally constructed by the Inuit to guide travellers and "show the way". These days they depict strength, fortitude, determination and friendship. One of these years, I'm going to get around to constructing one for one of the gardens.

Many thanks for dropping by.
Super shot and very interesting information!!

The one on the left reminds me a little of a football player- I think because he has strong rock "legs". This is so peaceful and pretty!

Nice detail of the inuksuk. (I didn't know how to spell it!) I have an inuksuk brooch bought for me by a Canadian friend.

These must very cool to come across on your walk. My late father built one on the head of his trail. I should photograph it for you.

Cool! Once, when I visited my favorite spot along the lake, I found that someone had constructed about twenty of them in all shapes and sizes, even on top of some of the larger rocks.
