This is not the crispest bird shot I've ever posted but one to mark a special occasion --- the first time I've ever taken a pic of a Cardinal on our property. I've only seen him once and not yet seen his mate.
very handsome bird, I agree that seeing some species in your own yard is all the more special, for me it is especially so for ones I seldom see in my yard
How exciting for you! Now that he know's there's a steady source of food and plenty of fir trees around, he'll come back. If he doesn't have a mate, he'll find one and they'll raise their young nearby. You've been discovered!
