A diary shot. I got back to my volunteer work today after six months break. It felt great to be back and I felt like I was doing the thing I am meant to be doing, this is definitely my thing. I am good at this and I´m really happy to have the chance to help people resolve their conflicts with one another, to make a difference -even if it´s maybe a small one.
This is one of the meeting rooms at the office. Personally I love this the most cos of the soothing colors.
@maree_sanderson@thimblelady Thank you, yes indeed it´s good to find your own thing. I am not currently as lucky with my day job but I have a clear vision where I want to be in few years, it´s going to take some time and effort be get there.
@maree_sanderson Thank you, I am on my way but it takes some time cos I need to educate myself a bit more to be fully able to do what it is that I really want to be doing.
@eyesmile Thank you, I like to think I am good and yes
I believe I am, at least I have done it so many years now that I ought to be :) But there´s always more to learn and in this line of work there always is as our working tool is our own persona -you can always learn more techniques like open questions and echoing but at the end the kind of person you are makes the difference will people trust you and will they feel comfortable taking about difficult things with you.
you are very right that the personality is what counts when working with people. I am glad you have something you enjoy - all the best with that!!!! And it is a beautiful and inviting photo.
What a lovely area! It's surprising how being greeted by an aesthetically pleasing sight can make such a positive impression on someone walking into it for the first time - you begin to relax a little. Such a seemingly small thing but so helpful to someone taking the big and often frightening step to a first counselling session.
I expect they are glad to have you back, Suse.
@dulciknit Thank you for your lovely words and indeed I agree that this space and the colors have such a calming effect and the calming effect is what is needed cos the clients are often very nervous before the first meeting, understandably.
