Green Heron

I ventured down to the lake in the neighborhood Saturday and to my great surprise, I saw a Green Heron! I've never even heard of this bird before. It was great to get out and take some pictures.

It's been quite busy since the boys started school and I'm trying to get into a new routine. Thank you for your patience with my sporadic postings.

Great shot! We had a fledgling green heron in our spruce trees once. We have no idea what he was doing there as we don't live on a lake, but his parents dutifully looked after him until he could fly.
