This is the magnificent Pacific Pearl that we sailed on around beautiful tropical islands. Here she is anchored at Isle of Pines, New Caledonia. Whilst she waited off shore, beyond the reefs, we used the ships tenders to ferry passengers ashore for sightseeing. The ship carried 1800 passengers and a crew of 700. I have never seen a bunch of harder working people than the crew on those ships. Often 14 hour days, very little time off and 8 month contracts. Away from home all that time. A majority of the staff came from the Phillipines, Indonesia, India etc. Their manners were impeccable, I wish I could say the same for some of my fellow passengers!
