Making Holes

The man framed by the trees is boring holes into the ice with a gas powered auger. One hole is never enough since men must use their toys!
Actually they drill a hole, fish for awhile, pop a beer and if no fish move a little distance and bore another hole. After all one must find the fish, and be carful not to step into someone's boring!

Did they catch any?

Interesting explanation of this process.

@gigiflower Not sure if the "real" object is to catch anything! Probably sometimes!

Fun capture and great description of the men's adventures.

I imagine the beer is an essential part of this process - kind of like a fish-finding liquid mercury indicator. Or maybe not.
I like how the sheds and the man are framed by the trees.

Other peoples hobbies are often fascinating... but I'll stick to photography I think. And thanks to a photographer for bringing us this story.

Oh, I enjoy the "men must use their toys." Such a descriptive shot. :)

I'm so fascinated by these ice fishermen! Never have heard of them before joining 365 :)

They actually fish! I thought it was about the beer.

The light in this shot is beautiful. I love reading about these communities that spring up on the ice, and was amused by this story.
