There are all kinds of relationships; some are loving, some practical, some natural, some simple, some complex, some symbiotic, some quite soft and beautiful. Not sure what the relationship between the peonies and the ants is, but where there are peony buds one will find ants. They seem to caress the buds with loving soft touches.
Some say the ants help the buds open into full flowers, others that the buds secrete
a sweet nectar and the ants are only eating. I prefer to think of them as lovers. Sometimes the
essence of relationships cannot be explained, but enjoyed!
