They grow slow and old with interesting shapes
and branches that one can see against the stark winter landscape. I love winter trees and their wonderful strong skeletal shapes that provide a home for the luxurious food producing leaves. This was taken at Minneopa State Park ( a Minnesota State Park) where the deciduous forest meets the prairie in an Mandelbrot Set of intricate, never ending fractal shapes. Where does one end and where does one begin!
That's the thing I like most about winter -- bare branches against the sky, particularly against a dusky sky, but any sky will do. Hmmmm...that could be the only thing I like about winter. Oh, surely not! I'll think on it a bit. I like the way you describe it above.
