Muskrat by tosee

Muskrat

Native to North America, not really a rat, along with it's cousin, the beaver, the only two mammals that actually build their homes in the water. Often found in Minnesota wetlands, it is listed as a herbivore, although several years ago in the spring, I shot some photos and a video of a muskrat diving, retrieving, and eating fresh water clams See http://365project.org/tosee/2nd-album/2016-08-20

Great capture. If I saw this in the UK I would assume it was an otter.

You have to wonder if they look forward to the time the green stuff covers the water or the time it is gone.

Fav. He is well camouflaged - looks like a broken tree trunk. Well spotted and brilliant capture.
