A neighbour has not been enjoying the best of health and his pumpkins were ready for harvest...so a Pumpkin Party was organised for the weekend. Locals from up and down the valley volunteered their time to come and pick, stack and pack the pumpkins. For lunch friends cooked everything pumpkin - pumpkin soup, pumpkin scones, pumpkin lasagne, pumpkin pie etc. The day ended with a Pig on the Spit and a night relaxing around the bonfire which was fired up again the next morning for breakfast (see the smoke in the background) for those who brought their swags and camped out ready to make an early start Sunday morning.
" How beautiful a day can be
When kindness touches it!"
~George Elliston
What a fitting quote at the end. This is a perfect example for my son's school motto which translates to 'he who does things for others, does them for himself' - by helping a neighbour in need the community has a great time and feels justly happy with itself. And black pumpkins too - I have them in my garden for the first time!
