Last Licks Ladies. by ubobohobo

Last Licks Ladies.

To help the cattle through our cold, dry winters we put out roller licks. The licks are a mixture of molasses, urea and water. This mix helps the cattle digest the old, dry grass. Recent rain has the green grass coming through and this is the last lick we will be putting out this season.
To access the mix, the cows learn to push the drum with their nose or cheeks to wet it so they can lick the wet surface. They have a few licks then off they go and feed.
Very interesting Margaret. I love the light in this shot. Beautiful.
