This sacred kingfisher has taken up residence in the garden and is caught here perched on the fence waiting for the next available insect, reptile, spider etc to appear for him to quickly dispatch. He uses that dagger beak not only to make short work of these small invertebrates but also to punch holes in white ant nests or decayed tree trunks and limbs for a nesting burrow where between four to six eggs are laid. However I haven't seen a mate arrive for this little fellow yet this season.
