Australian birds are reknown for their raucous calls but I don't think any are rowdier or noisier than the Noisy Friar. They've just finished feasting on mulberries now the grevillea are in bloom and they fight and squabble among themselves all day long. This one has taken time out to spruce himself up in the bird bath which he shared with a cousin - the Little Friar Bird who'd just flown out of the picture. That's why he has the disgusted look on his face.
