Orange

People are like sticks of dynamite.
The power is on the inside, but nothing happens until the fuse gets lit ~ Mac Anderson

An orange rose bud but I don't know what happened to the focus! I like the colours and it reflects something of my day. My daughter came to visit. Being a teacher like myself her visit always seems to have us discussing educational issues. Today we were on about the importance of finding that "fuse" in those children in our class who are "different".
I like orange.. Like your story behind it too

Here's to the kids who are different,
The kids who don't always get A's,
The kids who have ears twice the size of their peers,
And noses that go on for days...
Here's to kids who are different,
The kids they call crazy or dumb,
The ones that don't fit, with guts and the grit,
Who dance to a different drum...
Here's to the kids who are different,
The kids with the mischievous streak,
For when they are grown, as history's shown,
Its their difference that makes them unique.

Love reading your words, and the words of others in reply. being the mum of an autistic girl, i know a bit about the challanges that teachers face when kids are 'different' x

@lizzybean @jenrobcarr We have a grandson/nephew who is "different" and he led to our conversation. Now he is beyond the education system he is really finding his feet and beginning to bloom. thank you both for your words.

@lizzybean Love the poem Lizzy - I'm an ex teacher too and still can't stay from educational issues. I've just read an article about a man who was diagnosed with autism at 47 - finally! Lovely photo and thoughts.

I can vaguely see the rose bud - a great effect. Thanks for the quote and loved the poem about being different although I have heard it before. From another retired teacher.
