Shapes of Rural Australia

Grain Silos on Milton Station the site of the first white settlement in the Boyne Valley.
William Henry Walsh rode over the ranges into the valley in 1863 and claimed the whole area as his own. An 1869 land survey shows this claim to be 659 square miles of prime farming land. He named it The Milton Run and built his first home near where the tall pine tree that raises its head above these farm buildings now grows. As was the custom of the day, the land rights of the 1000 aborigines living in camps spread across the valley on his arrival were ignored and within twenty years records show tribal numbers had dwindled to about 75 persons.
wonderful Aussie rural scene. shame about our history of killing the native Aussies

Very rural shapes! Again, I love the contrasts between natural and man-made :)

Gosh they look almost like rockets landed! Quite shocking about Mr Walsh and how he got away with it.... such a beautiful land, I can see why people 'bagged' it while they could :)

Good rural shot. Similar things happened to the Native population here in the USA. Shameful treatment in both countries.

Thanks for the narrative, Margaret. Unfortunately a culture has been almost wiped out by white man's greed. The shot is beautiful and impressive in B&W.

I like your photo because you told a story about it. Sometimes, this is the story that makes the photo.
