Go for Gold 4

Black...Black hen, black duck, willy wagtail, magpie? Lots of choices but no co-operation. I was about to give up when hubby arrived home to say he had cattle yarded ready for drafting with a dozen of the neighbour's dairy calves mixed in with the mob. Ahha! I should get a black face here! But our old cows were giving these strays such a hard time in the yards that only this Belgian Blue lifted her head and stood still long enough to be photographed. Thank you little one. You're now an awesome-august star!
This works well Margaret. What a beautiful cow and shot.

Beautiful cow! Were they the ones they were cross breeding from on Norfolk Island? I saw a feature on Landline on Sunday about an old breed that needed new bloodlines.

@jan11 No . These are originally from Belgium. Apparently a good all rounder - good beef and milk. One dairy farmer was using them at a 1:6 ratio with his fresians herd. The first I saw were a light chocolate colour. This one pictured is probably a fresian cross.

Great shot - and I love how you've filled the frame with enough detail to tell what it is.

@ubobohobo Thanks for the info. I am interested in all things to do with farming.
