Late Afternoon by the River 2

Cat's Claw, a vine introduced by our early European settlers to create hedgerows, has become a weed and established itself along the water ways. It climbs over everything and in times strangles the host plant. This beautiful bower is all that is left of a native she-oak tree. All but the trunk of the she-oak is gone allowing the cat's claw to display its magnificence. A consequence of this process was the massive destruction caused in our record Australia Day floods in January as the dead trees were swept away taking with them fences and opening the waterways to massive erosion. It was amazing to see how water courses change as a result.
A very beautiful weed sad when plants can turn into a manes

It is a shame that such a pest weed looks so beautiful. A flood certainly changes the watercourse - the power of water is always amazing to see.

@triciaodonnell @jan11 One can easily see why the plant would be brought out. It is very pretty when in flower.

The flowers are beautiful, though.

I don't think you can blame the Brits for that - never seen it here - must be those proper Europeans...
