Castle Tower

Picture our 2013 floods. The black log in the centre front and the debris washed up against the clump of trees to the right mark the height of the flood waters above the Awoonga Dam. Water stretched across to the height of the black dot in the middle of the brown grassy ridge running down into the water on the opposite side. It also was backed up the waterways running into the foothills of Castle Tower in the Many Peaks Range. An amazing scene.
Makes a lovely shot

A beautiful scenic capture, hope the flood didn't do to much damage.

We love to control the water so we have spare(river) land if we got to much of it. Beautiful view on the water and hills

The art ball`s are placed to celebrate that the land is reclaim on the sea 100 years ago.

So good for the land--when will the floods come this year?

Its always hard to believe where the flood waters get to when you see these places in normal conditions. Nice shot Margaret

@cejaanderson This is why we are so worried. Our wet season for 2013-14 has finished and hardly enough rain to fill a teaspoon let alone a dam! We can only hope for early spring rain in September now. A pretty bleak prospect.

There's not so much there now is there. I hate the unpredictabilty of rain.

The old title is true "what a difference a year makes" floods one year and desperate need the next. September for decent falls seems too far away so will keep my fingers crossed that you get something better before then.

A beautiful scene. It is haard to believe water covered most of it last year. I do hope something extraordinary causing plentiful rain comes before September.

@jan11 @cate54 @swilde Yes lets hope there is something unexpected up ahead. I'll have to smack my wrist and stop dwelling on the lack of rain its becoming a habit, but it is a very worrying situation given that 80% of Queensland is now drought declared.

Beautiful view, Margaret. What a difference!

flood is something i never wish on anyone, so are draught and fire. but I always wish good weather for the farmers. i hope you have enough rain soon. weather everywhere has become weirdly on the extremes sometimes in the same places. this is a very engaging shot, I like it.
