Coonowrin, 377m high is, in aboriginal mythology , the son of Tibrogargan and Beerwah. When he saw them as he sailed up the east coast of Australia in 1770, Captain Cook was reminded of the glass furnaces back home in Yorkshire so he called them collectively The Glasshouse Mountains. To science they are eroded volcanic plugs. For us they provided a pleasant break from freeway traffic as we ventured into Landsborough for lunch.
