Town Goats by ubobohobo

Town Goats

Watched by a willy wagtail on the fence these two go about their business of keeping this vacant block trimmed. They live a lonely life as resident mowers for absentee landlords and appreciate a visit from passing locals and always come over to the fence for a pat and willingly accept any food offerings.

This morning I've slipped on a jacket for the first time this year. Winter must be just around the corner.
Sounds like they have a fair deal from the town. This is a very interesting photo and story. Do you have mild winters?

Bless - all animals like a bit of company - well maybe not all but most!

@cejaanderson Thanks Jane. Yes winter is mild compared to what I've seen in the Northern Hemisphere his year through 365. We get down to zero and frost but only in one or two week blocks especially during July and August. lt is also our dry season. That is why we were getting so anxious about the lack of rain during last summer. We can't expect much between now and late September. But as this photo shows we are going into winter with a good body of grass which will hay off and provide nutrition for cattle if we supplement it with a molasses and urea lick.

Nice shot of the goats. Hopefully there are too unhappy with their mowing job. At least they are provided with an abundance of grass for grazing.

Lovely couple of goats and of course they will eat anything, a good way to get rid of the family scraps. Nice capture.

They are looking well fed. I don't think you would need your jacket for too long - still warm here.
