I knew the white turkey was sitting in the weeds but she caught me by surprise yesterday when I found her nestled in the grass beside the loading ramp of the cattle yards, her feathers spread wide. However there was an even greater surprise awaiting me when she stood up - not one or two or three chicks but 14!!! Can you imagine the noise when they learn to gobble?
@sangwann It seems a lot to a farm dweller like me as well. 12 would be exceptional in my book but 14 ...there are chicks everywhere but she fluffs her feathers, spreads her wings and covers them all up safely.
@maggiemae No they are domestic turkeys but they free range during the day. I was excited to get two breeding pairs last September but 4 has turned to 25 in 12 months. I can see some serious birth control procedures being introduced immediately.
What a bonus you've got as spring arrives! You've got a regular turkey farm. I really love your collage. It gives us the suspense and then the surprise.
