Brolga by ubobohobo

Brolga

As I leave our dirt access road to meet the highway I look across our neighbour's farm and often see these brolgas feeding across the paddock.
These remind me of the sand-hill cranes prevalent in our area.

I remember seeing the brolgas dancing on the swamps on the way to Coolum when I was a girl - in the 1940's.

I agree with mom! I thought these were sandhill cranes at first glance. Our sandhill cranes return to New Mexico in late October/ early November.

I have never heard of those big birds....how amazing to see those grazing! Not sure they will be too popular with the farmers....eating all the grass....a bit like wild geese!
