One of the joys of this time of year is riding the heifer paddock to check for any calving problems and usually finding none but seeing sites like this. However we found a problem last week and had to assist the birth. We couldn't save the calf and we were very uncertain about the mother's future. She was very poorly after her ordeal. She couldn't stand. So we cared for her for a week and low and behold to our delight we woke one morning to find her standing again. She has gradually recovered and is now able to follow the herd although still a little stiff and sore. What a tough little girl.
So glad to hear the mother is better, but sad for the calf. When I saw this image in its smaller size on my feed, I was struck by the beauty of the color layers, and I was SURE that was a rabbit prayerfully posing on the left.
