Red Mahogany by ubobohobo

Red Mahogany

The red bands around the trees are caused by the cattle rubbing themselves to scratch an itch.
This is interesting is so many ways! First, it's a great photo. Second, mahogany is so rare here, it's nice to see a forest of it. Third, the elk here do this to the aspen trees, so there is that connection for me.

I suppose it wears a bit of the bark off to expose the oil. It makes a super picture and could be a great Australian Painting!

I agree that it is interesting. I've never actually seen a mahogany tree but not imagined them looking like this

Lovely warm light & I have neither seen nor even wondered where the type of wood called mahogany comes from! Lovely photo & the cattle through the trees add so much to the picture!

After seeing this, I had better check all the door jams in the house to make sure I'm not leaving any coloured rub marks Margaret. Ha Ha Ha
