The only green spot in the whole paddock...my home with its garden. Consequently I fight a constant battle with turkeys and chooks to keep them out. Sometimes I win. Sometimes I lose. This week is one of the times I lost. I'd pruned my roses and planted out some petunias. After a couple of busy days in the cattle yards I discovered when I came to take this photo that in my absence, the turkeys had dined on rose shoots for main course topped off with baby petunias for dessert or vice a versa.
@happypat@happypat yes Pat it is a losing battle and we love our verandah. It faces east and thats where we start everyday soaking up the sun to warm the old bones.
Our house and yard was wide open when we bought it. There was no fence to protect my flowers from livestock when we moved them from one pasture to another so of course my flowers were destroyed every time we moved cows.
Hubby did not want to bother putting up a fence and had a million reasons why we shouldn't. Luckily Hubby's job takes him away once in a while so I made arrangements to have the fence put in the minute he left for a week.
I figure that I am entitled to 0.25 of an acre to call my own out of our whole farm. And Hubby even likes it now!
