put it down

Meant to be a commentary on how much time we tend to view our life through a screen (or a lens in most of our cases) and the need to pull away for a while to actually *see*. It's the irony of photography, I feel, that I *do* see life differently when forced to slow down and capture something on a camera, but at the same time, I missing seeing things because I have the camera...

Anyway, it's more than that, it's my compulsion to pick up my iPod every 10 minutes or worse to see what email, from my 7 different accounts, may have come in, or who posted what in Facebook, or what word game I tell myself I've learning/stretching myself by engaging in it...you know the story. So here is my bugged-out iPod recharging for the night. Maybe I won't pick it up tomorrow? (But I will put in on my bed face down to measure my sleep tonight.)
Creative, as always, and very telling musings in your narrative.

Very creative, Michael, and I can unfortunately too closely relate to your musings!

Like taffy I too closely relate! Great shot it does remind me to turn it all off sometimes and just be.

So true for many, it is almost like a new appendage.

So far I have "avoided" the iPod, iPhone syndrome. But I do love my new laptop! And I know what you mean about seeing things through the camera but missing out on seeing things because of it. I've felt that quite strongly when I'm trying to get pictures of my grandchildren. I so want the picture of them, but I want to BE with them! Creative shot!
