Our first-born seems as surprised as we are that 10 years have already passed since he came into our lives. His face is an open book, so being a bit overwhelmed by the singing and fire, I got this look to capture the moment.
BTW, watching how you used your gorilla pod is how I was able to get the light dancer -- huge learning curve in Japan, it's clear! And my other shot for the night (the 19th) was a lensbaby one. So both are attributable to you.
@taffy Not trying to be nosy, but what did you learn about the gorilla pod? I bought one, a nice one..with a level..and have not really used it. Not sure when or how I would. so I was wondering...
@espyetta Basically I just watched Michael with it, then started doing the same. He would attach his camera to it, often when he was still doing handheld shots. Then, when he'd take a photo, I noticed he would brace the camera sometimes against his chest, sometimes using one of the legs by bending it to steady the camera against a fence post or wall or something. It's handy to have. I also started carrying an external shutter release cable so that I'd reduce camera shake on some shots. I still don't use it all the time, but it really made a difference for the light dancer shot.
