In the Fairy-Tale Garden in Ludwigsburg, which is a part of the castle grounds. I haven't been to that part for a while - that's what happens to the places that you live next to. But today, it was a day off, and the kids needed some fresh air, and we have the season tickets to the park.
As always, I appreciate very much all kinds of input, so critique away :) Thank you so much for your visits!
You might not even remember this photo anymore, but I still wanted to catch up and say "thank you" for visiting and leaving a comment. The park is full of silhouettes similar to this one, but I really like the menacing witch-y look on this one and the bright happy greenery behind it.
@gijsje@maggiemae - Yes, it is Hänsel and Gretel, the poor brother-sister pair that gets sent to the woods by the evil grandmother. They find the gingerbread house and eat some of it, as they are really hungry. And... that's when they meet a witch. By the way, on the actual house that is seen in the picture on the left, you can shake the gate and the scary wooden witch head will appear in the window and ask you who there is :)
@jyokota I am glad you enjoyed this picture, and ... what a great thing to do for you life's work - stories! The Fairy-Tale garden here is old - about 50 years, and full of strange or whimsical things that are connected to one or another fairy-tale or a literary piece. It makes it all touchable and real for kids - you can ask a mirror to show you who is the fairest in the whole world, and it will show you the Snowwhite. You can yell at the pot to boil you some soup, and the water starts spilling out of it. The donkey spits out golden chocolate coins, the frog prince sprinkles water on you, and you can sit on a lily pad in the middle of a fountain like a Thumbelina. I like the "old" feel of it - not many really scary special effects, just lovingly made, but somewhat native moving figures. Which, for me, fits the atmosphere of the fairy tales perfectly.
@vera365 -- I just bought my plane ticket to go to Munich in a couple of weeks so perhaps I will get to Ludwigsburg, which appears to be just outside of Stuttgart! Not too far from Munich. Let me know if you are coming to Munich any time between July 23 - August 7!
