I know, I know... Just a picture of a famous piece of art from Louvre. But just like the first time, I found her undeniably and strikingly beautiful, not touched by any touristy rush and a storm of selfies around it.
I am glad we went in - after the full day of seightseeing, we figured out that Louvre is open late on Fridays and instead of dinner we went there. Poor children didn't get anything to eat till 10.30, but enjoyed it anyway.
Fantastic find. You can see why Paris was once the centre of Revolution. The money spent on that city at the time must have been tremendous. However it has made it an incredible beauty and wonderful centre for architecture...and angels. FAV!
So glad you enjoyed her beauty! I remember her picture in my 5th grade history book, and I guess that image stuck with me from that time already. Apart from all the rest, for me it was worth being there for the second time just to see this magnificent creature.
@daisyditch - I very much agree. I grew up in Saint Petersburg, built as a capital by Russian Tsars who did not spare neither gold nor natural stones to make it grand. What was striking to me when I first visited Paris though is that massive nature of it - built from basically the same stone through so many layers of history, it makes an impression of one overpowering whole on you.

@ltodd - Thanks! I only took my Tamron 16-300 mm with me, which basically is the only lens I use. Sometimes I would put my 50mm 1.8 on, but traveling with kids and switching lenses on the go just doesn't really work out that well. It is this one: http://www.amazon.com/Tamron-AFB016N700-3-5-6-3-16-300mm-Interchangeable/product-reviews/B00JQ7TD2E
