We went to the open house at the little-one's new pre-school to meet the teachers and see the classroom. I think every adult in the room wanted to be a kid again and start exploring all the kinds of stuff they had in the room: pebble stones, all kinds of shells, gemstones, bugs, building things, take-apart-things, marbles... you name it. The skull was actually a find from one of the recent field trips! Giant outdoor space with different areas to camp, make fires, get dirty, hide and play.
The teachers seem nice, the place seems awesome, the kids friendly. And one of our two teachers is a guy, which I found so great considering how few men are in education.
Thanks for visiting!
That looks like a really cool place! Our eldest starts "pee school" in a few weeks time and is so excited I think she has mentioned it every day for the last year!! Hope your little one enjoys it there!
@taffy YES! Especially after I read the two articles today distributed among the parents - one about the importance to just let kids play instead of torturing them with flashcards and structured craft projects, and another one about the myth of early reading instruction making them better readers later. Coming from Germany, where "let kids be kids as long as possible" is a guiding principle almost everywhere, I was really really really happy!
Very cool shot, I love the tones in this. I love your description and your comment above - that's the kind of education the kids need! Let them be themselves!
