Liz Hammond (@lizhammond), my Get-pushed-partner challenged me to take a picture of "what books and/or reading mean to you". I have to admit, with the constant flow of unbelievable political news to keep up with, craziness of move back in August, full-time job, kiddos and just crazy life since we came back from Germany, I didn't get much time to read books recently. But what book and reading mean to me so much right now is - amazement and happiness. That is, as I am watching those two little ones to discover the pleasures the books can give. Be it the older one who learned to read in English this year and is not "lost" in a book every free minute (even walking home from school). Or this one little one, who had always "read" bedtime stories, but now more and more is discovering new and exciting stuff you can find in books. So here it is - what books and reading mean to us. :)
Thanks for visiting!
Wonderful response to the challenge. I love the intensity of the look on his face, the way he is leaning in. The light is beautiful & it looks like the book acted as a bit of a reflector to brighten his face. Super composition too. Looks extra magic on black I think. For me it also captures the joy of passing on the love of books.
So good to see kids fall in love with reading at such a young age. You have captured this emotion so well in this evocative photo.
Such a well executed response to your challenge. Thank you for entering this week's get pushed challenge. Good luck with it!
I know what you mean with getting time to read for yourself! Such a sweet capture, Sep tonight wanted to 'read' a experiments book. And what the magnet was doing and why, and couldn't we make a battery, and why was the water blue etc. Just love seeing this happy curiosity, as I see in this image!
1000 things you can eat...
