At the heritage festival at school today, kids could put dots on the map showing where they or their families come from. What do my Russian-American children say? - THEIR place is Germany! So, their dot went where they feel they belong. (At least, the little one was born in Germany. The other just spent a couple of years there.)
Thanks for visiting.
Haha, reminds me of a childrens-ski-race in Austria, where my niece won and stated too she is from Germany (because her bestie was, and she was not aware at this time, that there is a difference between Germany and Switzerland). With your kids it is probably where they feel "Heimat", because of friends, school and every day memories. I can see it is kind of sad for you, but isn't it great, they felt home, where they lived for so long in an childrens messurement? Your kids are Weltbürger.
Yes, help them feel more Russian! I had such a lovely trip there and am looking forward to going back next year. Quite an international group of students - do any come from Asia? I have to admit I always associate you with Germany, too, where we almost met! I see that someone is from the area where I taught in Poland...
