We had the dunes more or less to ourselves today! Those three specs of black are my peeps - not a soul around otherwise! Michigan IS beautiful, although hiking 3.5 miles through deep sand to lake Michigan and back was EXHAUSTING!
Thanks for visiting!
Nice shot. I really like the people in it... they give it scale. It is a much larger area than I would have thought if the people hadn't have been there.
Thank you so much for your comments! This is a wonderful place, although indeed quite exhausting. The official title is "Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore", and it is 288 km2 of sand along the shore of lake Michigan. There are also dunes all along that coastline, but here they are the highest and the area is the largest. Mostly covered in some scarce vegetation, except for - as here - places where people walk all the time. Add turquoise-blue waters of lake Michigan, and it looks like tropical paradise. Colder though :)
