We were in Newport to watch my oldest son run a half marathon this weekend. This morning on the beach, I found a sight I have never seen before...rows and rows of formations from the wind. Some looked just like space ships, others were spinning tops, mushrooms, pottery. It was quite a sight!!! and my son was first in his division! a fun weekend with my son, his wife and my two oldest grandkids. oh and my husband too!
@cjphoto these were made by the wind blowing the sand...it went on and on along the beach. I have never seen anything like it before. But it was not along the waterline. What I think is that the winters stormy weather got the sand really wet and now that the weather is clearing, the sand is beginning to dry, along with the wind, they were formed. We have plenty of wind at our beaches in Oregon, so along comes the wind pushing on the wet sand, drying it little by little and these formations are created. I am sure that in a few weeks when the sand becomes fully dry they will all be gone. But it was a fun thing to see!
@wannabe yes, they sort of did...and fell all to pieces when my grandson tossed one. Boys will be boys. I was irritated at him for it, so made him quit
