Full moon tonight . . . and I tried, unsuccessfully, to get a photo. So, instead, this is a photo of a page from "A River of Words: The Story of William Carlos Williams" by Jen Bryant, and illustrated by one of my favorite illustrators, Melissa Sweet. I've been reading it for a lesson plan idea. I love this excerpt from the poem, "The Descent of Winter" . . . and the illustration . . . even though it isn't about the full moon.
The moon, the dried weeds
and the Pleiades --
Seven feet tall
the dark, dried weedstalks
make a part of the night
a red lace
on the blue milky sky
Write --
by a small lamp
the Pleiades are almost
nameless
and the moon is tilted
and halfgone
@laurielizard It is a great biography. I don't know if the kids will like it as much as I do though! But I really like his poetry and the illustrations are amazing.
