I have to assist with a first grade class in PE and Art twice every six days. I don’t mind going to Art, but PE is usually a struggle — for me and the little challenging “angels” I have to keep my eyes on. But today they had a mini-Olympics and did skeleton (sliding on carpet squares) and speed skating (on whatever these things are) and no one tried to escape or clobber anyone else and no one “said bad words.” I guess it helped that one of the usual suspects was absent and I did spend seven minutes of quiet waiting outside the nurse’s office with a kid who needed his inhaler. Win-win.
