“Photography and the Art of Seeing” by Freeman Patterson is arrived yesterday. Here I read “Abandon any preconceptions about the subject matter……..New ideas and feelings will guide you as you make pictures”. So corrosion on this container becomes a lady with her dog. I converted it into negative – guided by my feelings.
Do you want to know what exactly I'm thinking? Simply the wall. The wall of the hospital, the wall of the school, the wall of any municipal institution! This is really funny, because the picture is so familiar for me. And yes, watching such walls really developes imagination... That's why they were in the kindergarten!!! ;)
I love the way that doing 365 makes you 'see' in a more mindful and different way. It sounds like that book takes it to another level. This is a striking image :... like Google Earth :-)
Great shot. Really makes you think. I can see the lady and the dog too. I love seeing shapes in abstract photography. This shot reminds me of Earth from above by Yann Arthus-Bertrand
wonderful creative abstract Yao! May I ask you what you used to convert it to negative? I used to be able to do that on an old PS elements, but can't find how to do it on PS elements 10. It can give some fantastic effects, as here!
I'm currently revising for an exam, one subject being visual perception. This type of thing is known as an 'impoverished figure'. Clues are needed before perception and once they are given the image can be seen. What is being sensed hasn't changed but the perception of it has. I can totally see the lady and the dog and would have great difficulty 'unseeing' it now. Wonderful image xx
@psychographer “impoverished figure” – so interesting. In other hand, the clue could restrict people’s imagination and influence people’s decision making, as undo the perception is a difficult process. Thank you. I value your input greatly.
